Job Description
CMM Programmer | Full Time, On-Site (Knoxville, TN)
Inova is seeking a CMM Programmer for one of our clients in Knoxville, TN.
This position is responsible for creating and refining CMM programs that support high-precision manufacturing. The role centers on using Zeiss equipment with Calypso software, interpreting technical drawings and GD&T, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure parts meet strict dimensional and quality standards.
This is a 1st shift, direct hire position.
What You’ll Do• Build, test, and maintain CMM programs based on SolidWorks CAD models using Zeiss Calypso
• Develop inspection plans and assist with dimensional checks using precision tools
• Support production, engineering, and quality teams by troubleshooting dimensional issues
• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on tight-tolerance machined parts
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, SOPs, and work instructions
• Oversee calibration schedules and ensure all measurement equipment is functioning properly
• Stay hands-on with daily operations and support continuous improvement efforts
What You Bring• Proven ability to program Zeiss CMMs using Calypso
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks (2D sketching and 3D modeling)
• Strong inspection background with GD&T interpretation
• Ability to maintain an organized work area and communicate effectively across departments
• Comfortable working independently and within a team
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms
Preferred Background• Degree in an engineering discipline
• Experience with precision components, particularly in firearms or similar industries
• Exposure to Lean or 5S practices
• Understanding of CNC machining processes
