Job Description

Inova Staffing is looking for an experienced CNC Set Up Machinist to join a precision-focused manufacturing team in Knoxville, TN.This position is responsible for setting up and running a variety of CNC machines (including mills, lathes, and specialty equipment) in a low-volume, high-mix environment.
This is a direct hire 2nd shift position.
Shift hours: Monday-Thursday 5pm-3:30am
What You’ll Do:
  • Set up and run CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss machines for complex, tight-tolerance parts
  • Read blueprints and G/M code, perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Work with tool steels and stainless alloys to maintain firearm-grade quality
  • Partner with engineering/quality to troubleshoot, improve setups, and reduce scrap
What We’re Looking For:
  • 6+ years of CNC machining and proven setup ability
  • Strong with Swiss or multi-axis turning and 4/5-axis milling
  • Skilled with precision measuring tools and comfortable with GD&T
  • Team player who values safety, process improvement, and quality
Preferred Background:
  • Prior experience machining firearm barrels, suppressor components, or other high-spec small parts.
  • Swiss-style lathe or 5-axis machining background.
  • Technical school certification or apprenticeship.
  • Leadership or team-lead experience.
  • Strong safety record and continuous improvement mindset.
