Shift: 2nd Shift (3:30pm-12:15am) MUST TRAIN ON 1ST 6:30-2:45Pay: 24.00/hrPosition SummaryThe Shredder Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial shredding equipment and related production machinery to ensure safe and efficient plant operations during 2nd shift hours. This position supports preventive maintenance programs, minimizes downtime, and ensures equipment reliability in a fast-paced industrial environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position supports preventive maintenance programs, minimizes downtime, and ensures equipment reliability in a fast-paced industrial environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial shredders, conveyors, hydraulic systems, motors, gearboxes, and related equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues.
- Inspect shredder blades, bearings, shafts, belts, chains, and wear components for damage or excessive wear.
- Replace or repair defective parts and perform equipment adjustments as needed.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct routine lubrication, cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
- Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
- Follow all OSHA, company safety, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Assist with installation and setup of new equipment and machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance work area.
- Communicate effectively with production operators and supervisors regarding equipment status and repairs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or maintenance certification preferred.
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience working with shredders, recycling equipment, or heavy industrial machinery is a plus.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, welding, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment safely.
- Ability to read blueprints and maintenance schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in hot, dusty, noisy, and industrial environments.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
- Welding and fabrication experience
- PLC troubleshooting knowledge
- Conveyor maintenance experience
- Experience with CMMS maintenance systems
