Manufacturing Engineer / Designer
Full-Time, On-Site | Knoxville, TN
Inova is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer and Designer who can support production for one of our clients in Knoxville, TN. This role focuses on creating clear drawings, developing reliable manufacturing plans, and helping improve day-to-day processes on the shop floor. SolidWorks experience is required, along with a strong understanding of metalworking or CNC machining.
This is a 1st shift, direct hire position.
Responsibilities
  • Create part and assembly drawings using SolidWorks
  • Review and release updated engineering documentation
  • Work with programmers and machinists to develop efficient, repeatable manufacturing methods
  • Support production with hands-on troubleshooting and process improvements
  • Manage jobs from quoting through manufacturing, inspection, and delivery
  • Help define inspection plans and address recurring quality or process issues
  • Use process data to recommend adjustments to inspection frequency
  • Design custom tooling, fixtures, and gauges
  • Maintain internal engineering standards and best practices
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives
  • Develop SOPs and work instructions for training and standardization
  • Interpret customer requirements and turn them into clear production plans
  • Work with suppliers to maintain quality materials and services
Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in an engineering or technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably metalworking or CNC machining
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist directly on the production floor
  • Solid understanding of GD&T
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate clearly and make data-driven decisions
  • Familiarity with standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators)
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience with firearms components or similar precision work
  • Lean experience or certification
  • Experience with CMM inspection
