Inova Staffing is looking to hire a mold repair technician for one of our clients in Akron, OH. This is a direct hire position for 2nd or 3rd shift (training will be completed on 1st shift). Pay is between $20-27.50/hour, based on experience
Our partner client is looking for a curious team player with at least 2 years' experience in injection molding and/or mold repair. They are a low volume, high mix facility that strives for greater precision in lower quantities. This is not a routine position - you will be working with several to many different molds on a daily basis.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completion of high school or equivalent.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic mathematics.
Thorough understanding of injection molds and their components, as well as repair techniques, mold positioning, safe lifting practices, and fixture repair and construction. Ability to assess tolerances and utilize micrometers.
Demonstrated experience of 3-4 years in machining, mold repair, and setting and processing molds on plastic injection machines.
Familiarity with mold machining equipment, overhead hoists, and forklift operation. Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
Capable of performing duties with moderate supervision and exercising independent judgment during mold repair, setting, and removal tasks.
Proficiency in diagnosing issues and making repair decisions independently.
Adherence to regulatory, company, and departmental procedures is imperative.
Familiarity with IQMS or ERP systems.

- Examine the interior surfaces of molds to identify imperfections such as pits, holes, or blemishes.
- Arrange molds appropriately for repair work.
- Transfer molds to and from presses using either a tow motor or crane.
- Implement safety protocols for hazardous energy control.
- Employ machining techniques and other methods to rectify defects and refine the interior of molds.
- Replace or install new inserts in molds as needed.
- Fabricate and repair fixtures as required.
- Diagnose and resolve mold (and press) issues, including cleaning nozzles and removing plastic residue.
- Disassemble and reassemble molds while adhering to safety guidelines and utilizing overhead hoists.
- Organize molds and maintain an index of their locations.
- Fulfill duties of a Mold Setter Processor (MSP) when necessary.
- Undertake additional tasks as delegated and instructed.
